Gillean Hat & Fingerless Mittens PDF Pattern

£5.00

Inspired by a Scottish archaeological site, the Gillean wrist warmers are designed to be a project suitable for colourwork beginners. The wrist warmers employ no shaping nor increases/decreases, thus allowing the knitter to focus on the meditative nature of of the knitting. The hat has easy, intuitive crown shaping.

The set takes its name from Caisteal nan Gillean, a Mesolithic site on the island of Oronsay. The site is known for its vast amount of shell deposits as well as stones and bones.

I’ve used a beautiful organic yarn that reflects an isolated island environment.

The pattern contains written instructions with colourwork charts.

Gillean is part of the Doggerland: Knits from a Lost Landscape collection. Note the individual patterns do not contain essays.

Doggerland consists of 8 patterns and is a collection of accessories inspired by a submerged landscape between Scandinavia and the UK. The collection uses motifs commonly found on artefacts from the Middle Stone Age and seeks to take you on a journey through landscapes of your own.
