Using simple stitches to great effect, the Ertebolle hat takes its inspiration from the geometric patterns found on early pottery.

The pattern is named after a world-renowned Mesolithic site in north Jutland, Denmark. it is famous for its shell middens but unusual shards of Mesolithic pottery have also been found nearby.

The hat is knitted in the round using a rustic aran-weight with good drape and stitch-definition. The textured pattern is fully charted.

The Ertebolle hat is part of the Doggerland: Knits from a Lost Landscape collection. Note the individual patterns do not contain essays.

Doggerland consists of 8 patterns and is a collection of accessories inspired by a submerged landscape between Scandinavia and the UK. The collection uses motifs commonly found on artefacts from the Middle Stone Age and seeks to take you on a journey through landscapes of your own.
